LA

Earlier this year I took a trip through North Louisiana on my way to go camping in the Ozark mountains. One of the most interesting things to do on trips like this is take small county roads and state highways. It's a great way of seeing the country; there are always little interesting mom-and-pop antique stores and other shops along the way.

On this last trip, as I was stopping at some of these road-side shops, I started noticing antique postcards, and ironically, the further I travelled from New Orleans, Louisiana, the more often I would find images from that area. By the time I was in Arkansas, I had amassed a nice-sized collection of antique postcards.

On the following six pages, you'll find my collection of antique postcards from Louisiana. There are lots of interesting images: the "new" Hewey P. Long Bridge, Mardi Gras on Canal Street, old government buildings, cemetaries, the French Quarter, churches, the riverfront, etc.

If you have any others you would like to contribute to the site, please do! If you like the exhibit and want to send me any postcards, that would be fine as well. Send them to: LA Homepage, PO Box 7638, Metairie, LA 70010-7638, USA

See Exhibit!

NOTE: If you are interested in using any of these images elsewhere, please contact me first for permission. A lot of time and money went into archiving, scanning and processing this collection. I would not want to see my work appear on anybody else's site unbeknownst to me.
